I started with 54mm toy soldiers (mainly plastic like Cherilee) and then Airfix models and 1/76 (or 1/72) plastic figures and shortly after discovered Donald Featherstone books and wargames rules. I am interested in history from ancient to modern times and across the globe. I have been a Society of Ancients member since about 1974, and have dabbled with other society memberships; but SoA 'Slingshot' has been a stalwart in my many solo periods of play. Although I have also been lucky enough to live within walking distance of one informal club where I was a member for some 26 years. I am learning again how solo or lone gaming can be as much fun as face to face games, albeit there isn't the banter of a club meeting! I have written mostly for the Society of Twentieth Century Wargamers "Journal" in recent years (both old defunct version and re-start version begun this year, 2022); and got one submission off to the new SWA / LW editor recently. Although I am still a learner when it comes to creating methods to outwit the human player in my solo games.

George asked to hear from all members, in respect of: “I’ve always wondered how many members we have, where they were located and what they were into. If you can think of nothing else to post to the blog, sending in your answer to those three questions would be a great way to introduce yourselves […]
