Hi All,
John Y had asked me to provide an update on the LW Journal Compendium project, but it’s taken me a while to get on to it. John’s post on the ‘new’ back issues was just the prompt I needed!
First off, the Compendium project is well underway with five willing volunteers working at the synopsis entries. Progress has been slow as everyone ‘has a day job’ , so things are being done as and when possible.
That said, in reviewing the past editions I have been struck at what an absolute gold mine of information is packed away in all those back issues!!
The list of article titles we currently have just does not do justice to the content of the articles and barely hints at the high quality information and clever ideas that the members of the SWA have shared previously.
Of note, for the Compendium our focus is to capture just the ‘named’ articles. Older editions used to have a lot of extra content compared to current editions such as a vibrant Play by Mail section and a robust ‘Letters to the Editor’ section.
Interestingly, it appears there was a lot more input via the letters pages than what we currently see on the SWA blog site!!! I was struck by the variety of topics aired via the letters sent in and would hope current members can find the time to put fingers to keyboard and reenergise one of the key strengths of the SWA, wargamers sharing ideas and inspiration!
I’m hoping to have the majority of articles entered into the Compendium by the end of Dec. Hopefully we can go live with a searchable database in the new year, that’s the plan anyway.
Cheers
GB

Wow, seriously looking forward to this.
Thank you for your efforts!
